A Day at the Zoo

Choosing one of the hottest days of this summer for a visit in the zoo is maybe not the brightest idea.

It was fun though, seeing how differently the animals coped with the heat.
Shall I go into the water or sun myself a bit longer?
Well, I'll swim a round....
Oh, I don't know,...
... let me think about what to do today...
... take I nap ...
..oh yes, naappppp.....zzzzzzz
I'm soooo bored, I have to stick my trunk where it does not belong..
Well, while you all think about what to do, I'll take a bath.
Oh, you are spoilsports! Nobody up for a race?

Apricots

Working my way through 10 kg of apricots resulted in a cake,

Apricote dumplings and lots of jam.
Coffee and cake - just right for a summer afternoon snack!

Sketchcrawling - my way

I just realised that last saturday was another World Sketchcrawl I've missed, but as I am on vacation right now, I've taken every opportunity to talk a friend into sketching with me. Sunday we spent a couple of peacefull hours sitting on Rathausplatz to draw, talk, eat and just enjoy summer.

Yesterday my friend, her daughter and I spent a leasurly day driving through Wachau, sitting in the sand left by the horrible floodings some weeks ago to draw, buying (and eating) the famous apricotes, tasting and buying some wine, eating icecream, ..
crossing the river Danube with a cable ferry and sitting in the grass to draw the view back towards Weissenkirchen. All in all it was a wonderfully relaxing summerday, full of laughter and fun.
And now to use all those apricotes...

Photochallenge - Yellow

It finally seems as if summer has decided to not just visit for a week before being drowned in weeks of rain but stay for a bit longer. All the rain had some good as well - plants got enough water to bloom. And bloom they do - many of them in yellow:
