Piran - the end

The last day in Piran we spent at the harbor again, looking along the coast and the houses and restaurants there:
I started with watercolor again and in the end returned to drawing.
Again unfinished but it was time to leave, to enjoy a last lunch in one of the restaurants before getting into the car and drive back to Vienna. All in all it was a very successfull weekend for me and I love looking at my paintings and remembering.

51 Photos - square

The granit squares in the old streets and sidewalks are as much part of Vienna's history as Strauss, Freud, the New Year's Concert and many other things:
I wish I could remember who it was that said: If you walk in any town on earth and stumble, well, you stumble. If you stumble in Vienna - you stumble over history."

51 Photos - A thing I love

There are so many things I love, but what I want to show you is less a thing, more the sign of something.

Even in the middle of a big city, nature is reclaiming it's right. Beavers are busy along Donaukanal and aid forestry services to cut down trees.

51 Photos - Colorful

I  do now quite know how I managed to miss 4 weeks of drawing, taking photos and posting, but I'll do my best to catch up with life. A visit from friends, a birthday celebration and life in general threw me off my path, but I am doing my best, to get back into my habits.

Colorful:
I love the graphity that can be found along Donaukanal, ever changing, wonderfull expressions of life.

More Piran - Grosnjan

On Saturday we drove from Piran to Grosnjan in Croatia. There were so many wonderfull motives there. In the morning we settled down in a small lane and painted a stone dorway:
A quick colored sketch in my sketchbook,
WC pencil, indian ink and watercolor on ingress paper,

and finally a more detailed colored drawing.
In the afternoon we looked out over the landscape of croatia and I worked on hills - my most challenging motive:

Pure watercolor, without any sketching beforehand.

There was a huge pine tree where we sat, I just had to try to paint it.
